Welcome to The Clearing Room.

After spending decades sitting with emotional distress alongside other humans, I’ve learned that helping isn’t about fixing, it’s about staying. As a psychotherapist and well-being educator, I’m passionate about clearing room for the hard, messy truths of being human and teaching others how to respond with care and confidence. This is what The Clearing Room is all about, equipping anyone and everyone with the knowledge and skills they need to be with one another when it matters most.

I work with teachers, parents, carers, first responders, tradies and corporate teams, anyone eager to help well during emotional distress.

My goal is simple: to share practical, powerful ways we can all become more capable, connected and compassionate helpers.

Why ‘The Clearing Room’?

A clearing in the forest creates space and refuge from the crowded foliage. The clearing is not separate from the forest. It does not make the darkness or the denseness of the forest disappear, it simply provides a chance to pause, to look up, to reorientate or to rest.

Not unlike the forest undergrowth, human emotions are complex, often intertwined and can feel dark or dense. Clearing room in our busy lives to unravel and explore our painful emotions, without seeking to change or eliminate them, often leads to the growth and values-based change we want.

“We can’t be talked out of our difficult emotions. They are uncomfortable feelings, not poor decisions.”
